Active involvement of young people in the life cycle of youth projects is an effective way to develop their skills and attitudes. By participating in planning, organization, and communication, they acquire knowledge applicable to their personal and professional life. Their involvement in project management also contributes to adopting a more active attitude towards their participation in public life, which becomes a tool for their empowerment.
In addition to benefiting young people themselves, their integration in the conception and development of youth activities increases their effectiveness and efficiency. By incorporating their preferences, needs, and interests, it ensures relevance and impact, promoting a “bottom-up” model as opposed to a “top-down” approach.
However, several factors can make it challenging to achieve sufficient youth participation to obtain these benefits and maintain it over time. In an environment dominated by volunteer relationships and instability, it is often challenging to retain sufficient participation. Inadequate planning modalities of participation, unfulfilled expectations, or technical complexity can also make it difficult to maintain satisfactory youth participation.
Prior investigation has shown that few remedies are available to workers in the field of youth to deal with these problems. Therefore, this project aims to conduct an exhaustive analysis of the specific problems in this field, develop innovative solutions, summarize good practices, and equip youth workers with material that addresses this situation systematically, comprehensively, and in detail.
The goal is to maximize the impact and benefits of these types of activities, which have so much potential to contribute to the personal and professional development of participants, as the Erasmus+ Program guide points out.
Based on that the project aims to equip youth workers with tools to achieve a sufficient and constant degree of youth involvement during all phases of youth projects. Its specific objectives are as follows:
- Conduct a precise diagnosis of the needs and difficulties in the field of youth.
- Develop a series of innovative methodologies that address the identified needs.
- Prepare training material that will be widely distributed through dissemination efforts.
- Create a dedicated website where youth workers can find relevant information on the subject and share experiences, advice, and good practices.
